IAH opened in 1969 to accommodate Houston’s growing demand for air travel and quickly became the city’s primary airport for both commercial and private aviation. Named in honor of President George H.W. Bush in 1997, the airport now spans more than 10,000 acres and features five passenger terminals and multiple runways capable of handling the largest aircraft in the world. IAH has grown into a major hub for international and domestic private aviation, providing direct access to Houston’s business districts, corporate headquarters, energy sector facilities, cultural attractions, and leisure destinations.
